I like Dolly, Jay z, Eminem and Madonna. But they are not Rock and Roll. Iron Maiden is one of the greatest bands in history and are the epitome of Rock and Roll and get snubbed. What a crock.

@YourMomsSecretCrush Dolly didnt want to be in it, they insisted. Basically she had no choice and thats crap. Its favortism only, so not legit.
Gene Simmons said it best when Public Enemy was inducted, "if they want a h.o.f., they can create their own."
No rap, no country period.

@YourMomsSecretCrush Agree. Dolly Parton is a legend and a great humanitarian but she's not R&R.

I remember reading an article of a former member of the induction committee spilling it all that goes on behind the scenes there. How artists would get inducted before those who made it possible for them just because they were more famous, those not getting inducted simply because one or more members of the committee weren’t fans of them and how entire genres get overlooked, like jazz, progressive rock and, in their words, “a whole lot of black music.” The Sex Pistols said it best: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a piss stain.

It's a joke, clearly they don't know anyting about Rock and Roll.
Iron Maiden should've been inducted decades ago.
At least Randy Rhoads was inducted thanks to Tom Morello.

It's quite literally a popularity contest. I agree, there are some serious oversights but eventually the right bands get in....some sooner than others, regardless of their actual worthiness.
You ever been there? It's kinda cool actually, lots of memorabilia and history, if you are a music fan its worth the trip.

They just save them so the RRHF stays relevant for years to come. They'll all be in there eventually.
TexChik · F
I agree, they wait so long to award membership.

Bonkers!

RNRHOF has always been a vanity project for Jann Wenner and his band of merry pranksters. Zero credibility. He's had axes to grind, pun not intended, against metal and prog since day one. Some of those artists are great at what they do but have N O T H I N G to do with rock and roll in any way.

It's like RUN-DMC said. They said, I'm the king of rock! There is none higher! Sucker MCs, should call me sire!
In the 80s, hip-hop was all under the rock umbrella.
And Pat Benetaar, and Pantera suck. And Dolly Parton sang Jolene. Which is better than anything Alice in Chains and Pantera did.
And Ozzy done nothing good since the 70s.
Iron Maiden Number of the Beast, okay, I'll give you that. That was dope.

@SW-User No idea what you are talking about, did you reply to the wrong post?
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
It’s absurd. It’s just popular artists now so people will watch the show and go to the stupid museum.

Yep... ya never know how that happens.... I suppose somebody, somewhere thought that was right and fitting.
I do love Dolly Parton's singing, but always saw her as a country singer?

@SW-User She refused it initially, but they basically told her too bad. Even she knew she shouldn't be in it.
caesar7 · 61-69, M
It is a crock....I don't bother watching it..it pisses me off and gets me so frustrated. I wait a watch the deserving bands that I want to see on YouTube. It really is a farce.
