When I was young in the 1960's the two best selling soundtracks were "Gone With The Wind" and "Dr Zhivago". These were "must" owns of record collectors back then.
That does not count musicals as they were "musical soundtracks" were a different genre then.
But I do adore the original film script OST for both movies. Max Steiner was great at movie compositions.
