Yikes The New Boss At Warner Bros Discovery Wants To Get Rid Off HBO Max The Streaming Service

So HBO Will Go Back To HBO the original Channel This sucks I like HBO Max
Streaming is the future of online entertainment. If you want to have an audience in the future, you need to deliver streaming.

Yes, I get everybody is losing money on streaming right now. There are too many streaming services, and they are battling each other by bidding up the cost of the best content and by trying to cut prices.

All the streaming players are doing what they must to stay in the game. If they abandon streaming, they end up with a little shrinking niche market of elderly folks who still think "cable TV" is a cool thing.

Which isn't to say Discovery won't make that mistake. It's only saying that a focus on the next quarter or two can destroy your prospects two or three years out. HBO, it was nice knowing you.

The winner/winners will look like Amazon, Apple and possibly Disney.
The trick is to own the content creation, control the distribution platform/network and have a FUCK TONNE of money in your bank account.
If that’s you then you will be the winning streaming company.

A lot of streaming services has lost money last quarter. Netflix lost a lot of money last quarter also. The biggest streaming service loosing money and cutting content. Everyone getting nervous. Others follow Netflix

@Jeffrey53 There’s plenty more carnage to come on the road of streaming wars. Only companies with deep pockets and huge market share will survive the battle.

HBO Max isn’t dead...yet. But come the summer of 2023 it will be, and there will be a new service replacing both HBO Max and Discovery Plus It’s not clear what Warner Brothers Discovery will call the new combined service,

Also look out for streaming companies bidding for the rights to NBA, NFL, Soccer, Golf and all other sports events. Those are 1-2-3 Billion dollar tickets per season for each one.

It looks like any tv or movie that has to do with the DC comic universe are going to be the first casualties.

@Barefooter25 Zaslav said. “There will be a team with a 10-year plan focusing just on DC. will resemble the strategy that drives Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe.

@Jeffrey53 That's what they said over 10 or 15 years ago. Marvel is losing steam with Phase 4 and you figure DC would finally catch up but all they're doing so far is rebooting and retelling their origin stories.

Remember. It’s a private company and can do what it wants.

They must be going broke.

Wonder why. I thought that all cable channels were turning to streaming services for their bread and butter these days.
