Getting back to normal . .
Last Friday I went to the cinema for the first time in nearly three years to watch Top Gun Maverick (no, please don't ask why 🤦♀️). I paid £9.50 for my ticket, £3.00 for an enormous tub of popcorn that I am still finishing, and £2.00 for a drink.
The evening's entertainment was augmented by a fist fight that broke out in the front row, apparently arising from an irreconcilable difference of opinion over the correctness (or otherwise) of discussing the main feature with a neighbour in a very loud voice.
The future of cinemas occupied a disproportionate amount of the national discourse during covid lockdown. I wonder if the sector may now wither away naturally.
