Will the Rings of Power series get credible reviews, now that the christofa are leaving to whine about the new little mermaid?

It's a shitshow. And this comment against the Trailer video perfectly sums up the delusion Amazon had. That trailer earned 15 times more dislikes than likes also abd rightfully so. You destroy the originality of the work & most people would trash it.

ahh yes those pesky Trump supporters are the only ones that hate race swaps and bad writing 🤣
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Torsten He is, lol. Do you think a guy born in the middle east 2000 years ago would've been white, blonde and with blue eyes?
Torsten · 36-40, M
@Elessar obviously no not a white dude with blonde hair and blue eyes.
Black people try claiming Jesus was black also. This aint just a white thing haha.

Again I am against it in general and personally couldnt give a shit bout the little mermaid in general but just against Hollywood race swapping established classic characters and personally feel the people of those races that Diseny and so on pander to, should hate it aswell.
Hollywood is so lazy that they can not come up with new interesting well written characters to represent POC, instead they get sloppy seconds for everything.
It should be insulting

@Torsten You can think of any preposition and you'll find at least one person in the world that believes it's true; that proves absolute nothing. My point is, the great majority of Jesus depictions (books, ornaments, movies, art, etc.) depict him at best as an Italian, at worst as a Sweden lol, can you think of any major work where he's depicted with traits common in the middle-east? Let alone black. And yet, none of these angry reviewers ever complained in 2000+ years of "race swap" lol

It's well established that Jesus was born in Palestine, and this has been established for far longer than Ariel's skin color, so if that's really your concern you should be at least as outraged at Christianity as you are against Hollywood. Or is Hollywood so special to deserve a different treatment?

Hollywood is so lazy that they can not come up with new interesting well written characters to represent POC, instead they get sloppy seconds for everything.
In the case of RoP the black elf that is at the center of 99% of these 1 star reviews is precisely what you ask; a brand new POC character created purposefully for the show. And yet, here we are lol

there is a new Little Mermaid?
Whodunnit · M
It's received credible reviews. It's just not very good.

@Elessar Well, from what I have seen it's received way more 10/10 reviews than it has 1/10. Neither of which is accurate. I'd personally give it a 4/10. Some of the visuals and CGI are good (though that Warg was absolutely embarrassing), but so much else is really bad. The dialogue, the mischaracterisations, the compressed timeline, the costuming. For the money that has been spent on the show it looks really cheaply made. Possibly the worst thing is that it's really very boring.

No doubt there are folks that have given it low scores because of the inclusion of actors of colour, but there are also many that have given it high scores purely because of the diversity, blatantly ignoring the shows many flaws.

The mainstream media is of course out to bat for Amazon, so they will of obviously focus on those reviews that mention skin colour. It allows for name-calling and branding the fans as toxic. It's the same playbook that's been used since 2016 and the release of that god-awful Ghostbusters reboot. Anyone that didn't like that MUST have been a misogynist.

For me it's a toss up as to which is worse. Rings of Power or The Hobbit. Both in my opinion are soulless cash grabs.

@Elessar I think they're even lucky that so many people are complaining about characters' skin colors that it overshadows other critics that actually make sense. There are so many wrong things about this series, and it starts with acting...
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Whodunnit @LookingForTheSummer Personally I don't find it too bad, maybe it's because I had much lower initial expectations (whereas, when I first watched the Hobbit I was expecting something comparable to LOTR). I'll wait until the end of at the very least the first season to have a more "final" judgement.
Reminds me when i posted this when the actor was cast
