Italian luxury fashion brand Prada last week terminated its contract with Chinese actress Zheng Shuang over a suspected scandal.

The move comes in the context of a surrogacy row. Some reports alleged that Zheng split up with her partner and abandoned her two children born to surrogates abroad. It must be noted that surrogacy is illegal in China. As a result of the controversy, Prada Hong Kong stocks began to fall and closed down by 1.7 percent at HK$46.20 on January 18. Though the stocks rebounded the next day, Prada still announced the termination of the contract on its official Weibo account and deleted solo posts of Zheng from the social media platforms.
