Do you enjoy having house guests?

I love to cook a big meal for friends and family, have late night conversations with a bottle or two of something scrummy, and then make sure you everyone has cosy comfy place to sleep. And then the following morning breakfast for everyone before it’s time to go. I get happy satisfaction that people feel looked after and well fed when they come to stay. Does anyone else feel like this?

I do like making people happy. But only certain people. And not a large group.

For a few days but I need my downtime. By day 3 I’m done.

How much is B&B at yours?

I enjoy having company every so often...never had any overnight guests though.

I think if I were a normal, mentally healthy, and socially competent person, I would. Buuuuut, I'm not. lol I prefer to have my personal space. I'd rather not have anyone come over to my house ever. Not because I don't like my friends or anything, I just like my alone time more.

@Madhatter My wife and I are pretty much the same way...our home is our retreat, our sanctuary. We like/don't mind/enjoy visitors occasionally, but we prefer our space and privacy and don't like or want that disrupted too often or for too long.

Only for my family, we're a huge crowd!😁

Yes it's fun, only bad thing is you have to tidy up afterwards and you had already cleaned before the guests came, but other than that with good company and drinks everything is good!

I think tha would bring anxiety to many and even a fear that it wouldn’t be good enough. You apparently have a gift of hospitality. Sincere joy from making others feel comfortable. 🙂

I do NOT like having house guests, unless it is for a short period of time. The wife and I are set in our ways and having people over for extended stay gets in our way of our daily routines.

I used to.. But I got taken advantage of too many times. Regarding my home becoming a free hotel to family members who wouldn't leave!
I like visitors!
And they can leave 🤣

I hate house guests. Watching Shrek with my daughter and am thinking she likes it because Shrek reminds her of me.
The only house guests we've had are my roommate's brother and his family. It'd be great if they'd visit without their kids.
I don't mind it unless they don't make a mess and neighbors don't start complaining about noise

I like having them over but it is a headache to set everything up
yes, it's nice to have the room so everyone is comfy with privacy
MyPathOfTotality · 46-50, M
Not really. People stay too long. Lol. I much rather go to their house.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
For a night. Maybe 2 then it’s time for them to go.

Depends who. Some guests are a burden
Yes, I actually enjoy that, too. But I don’t have a huge place, so it’s generally only one or two people at a time.
Portia · 41-45
Yes, I guess me too 🙂

All depends who. Definitely alcohol makes it more tolerable let's say when my family is there. We really haven't had too many other house guests which is nice

I love having house geusts as long as they dont have a problem with our life style .If they do then their not welcome .
BearDownChicago · 41-45, M
All depends. I like having them but they tend to overstay their welcome or they dont help out and pitch in. It's like I have more kids here
rfhh1959 · 61-69, M
I hate being one and having them which is why I bought a 2 bedroom house after owning a 4 bedroom one
Big meals and good hearty breakfasts are always good
496sbc · 36-40, M
its not to bad as long as they follow the rules
