"Dead Calm"

-He sees the tear stained mascara on my tired eyes,
The glass of red balanced delicately in my fingertips,
The look of desperation
As he watches me,
Figuring out my next move,
I drop the glass.
It falls in slow motion,
Like our life.
When it finally hits the floor,
And shatters in a hundred pieces,
Red stains galore.
His eyes widen,
Disbelief.
My words spoken in a dead calm-
"That's my heart. My soul.
My blood. Broken and shattered beyond recognition."

His silence is deafening.
Maybe now, he'll understand
What his words do to me.

Yes I have kinda told my daughter and her new husband about this. They say that it is just playing but if you see it most of the time it won't be long before that is all you do. And ends up always expecting a cut down. I told them home should be the one place to go and relax and enjoy each other a safe place from the world. The world will give you all the hard times you want but home should be a safe place for mind and body.
