You guys have to remember I have schizophrenia so when I'm not making sense it's an episode the best thing you can do is tell me I'm going to be ok

JohnnyBliss · 56-60, M
I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. Had a psychotic break back in 2012. Spent years in a state mental hospital.

I'm much better now. Haven't had any symptoms in 7 years. Don't really know if it's the medication I've been taking or because I no longer have the stressors in my life that led to the breakdown.

I continue medication as sort of an insurance policy against having another serious episode.

Always available to discuss this topic. It fascinates me how the brain can just go off like that.

Hope you are managing as best you can.

@JohnnyBliss Has Abilify worked for you?
JohnnyBliss · 56-60, M
@Isthisit Good question.
Short answer.
I don't really know.
My symptoms disappeared well before the change to Abilify. And they haven't returned since the switch.
I don't really know if it is the medication keeping symptoms at bay, or as I suggested in my initial reply, a lack of the stressors that I had in my life at the time of my break.

Right now I continue medication though. Not willing to risk trying life without it.

@JohnnyBliss I do is diagnosed back in 2009 after years of homeless ranting and raving I'm doing better now with medication I just have to stay off their crystal meth. Maybe she's with God the government none are taking seriously and none really matter after years of my life just down the drain. I hope to have years free of distress of shared living food stamps and being short on my check
