Narcissism will always baffle me. [I Hate Narcissists]

Deadish · 31-35, M
Can you truly eliminate it entirely from an individual?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Deadish the nature of that beast is that they don’t take responsibility for their faults. It has to be the most stressful thing for a psychologist to deal with. Someone who is neurotic takes too much responsibility for problems even trying to solve those things that others have created while a narcissist is on the extreme opposite side of the spectrum. I’ve known several and they’ll get under your skin in a heartbeat and try to make you think you’re the problem.
TheArbitrator · 36-40, M
That depends on whether or not you believe rehabilitation is possible. Ever watched the movie: A Clockwork Orange? @Deadish
Deadish · 31-35, M
@TheArbitrator it’s been a very very longtime since I have see that movie. I’m sure it all depends on the person as well. These type of things aren’t well suited to blanket statements I feel.

Not me. It seems to run rampant.
TheArbitrator · 36-40, M
@SW-User It's apart of our culture today. It's been promoted for a long time.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
There are many examples to learn from.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Dolimyte after you get to know their patterns of behavior, yes they are. They can be superficially charming in the beginning and whenever they want something from you. The minute they get what they want (even if it’s information) they turn on their heel and leave making some sort of excuse. And they individually have certain keywords that let you know that they will attempt to manipulate you....one asks me “can I ask you a question” so I am alerted that something is coming. My sister will say “Oh, by the way” usually when she is scheming something mean on me so I can figure it out quickly.
Dolimyte · 41-45, M
@cherokeepatti glad you've got them figured out.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Dolimyte I’ve had a lifetime to do it. When they lie or deceive you in some way it makes you a better listener. I wish I’d had a tape recorder a long time ago to record some of them. My sister got recorded for something she did and the guy took it to her husband to show him. They gaslight anyone who can tell off of them so it was the smart thing to do.

That's when ego and sociopaths collide, no?
Basically, it’s the aspect of a very young child, before he or she learns the world doesn’t revolve around them. 🙁
