Baker Acting (or whatever it's called in your state) is an effective way to keep others from harm. Would I have made a call because I had 'work to do?'

When you initiate something with the power to become bigger than anyone involved in the situation, you lose control of the outcome. It could well be you needed help with this woman, but this starts a chain of events with often unintended outcomes. I've seen men lose their families and future because they were hassled for sleeping in their car in a parking lot. I've seen well-intentioned people make it easier for another to lose her children. Not because they wanted to - because the system is without distinction, streamline or compassion.

Did you do the right thing? Time will tell, but remember that when you involve outside agencies, you effectively change the current of another person's life. I'd personally make sure I had a damn good reason to do it.
