How's this for starting off a fictional story

“Excuse me, Sir?”
A woman’s voice called out as I pitched wood shavings into an empty stall, abruptly breaking the early morning silence. Her soft voice interrupted my thoughts and caused me to turn around. Tilting the sweat-filled stetson to the back of my head, I pulled my handkerchief from my rear pocket. Wiping my face, I studied the young lady that had come into the barn, invading my work. Leaning on the shovel handle, I turned my head to spit some tobacco juice off to the side before responding.
“Yes, ma’am, what can I do for you?”
