Take Me Home
Take Me Home
Laying here in the mud, my eyes turned skyward to see the red sky above me
My body feels numb and I cannot move, just watching the blood-red sky above me as the clouds seemed to drift slowly across the sky.
How did I get here?, why can I not get up? the questions barely registering as I seem more fascinated with the clouds above me and the morning lights that were breaking through the clouds.
Thoughts of home now fill my mind, I see a place, but cannot focus on it, my mind struggling to break free from how the sky has me hypnotised with its beauty, nothing more than simple clouds and a red sky but so enticing.
Then it comes to me, I see a home, a house, a beautiful country home, the forest all around it and beyond that, I can see the outline of the mountains, those glorious mountains that have been calling out to me for so long.
But there is more, so much more, the sense of numbness seeming to ease from my body as I feel a strange sensation begin to build within my body, a sense of excitement and I can feel my heart hammering in my chest at this strange new feeling that is washing over me.
My eyes open wider now as I let a breath escape from my lips, without warning I feel the breath slip from between my lips and I try to rise from the ground. I feel my shoulders lift slightly and I feel a cold damp sensation against the clothes that cover my back.
A cold shiver passed through me and I closed my eyes trying to fight back the feeling of coldness as my body slumped back down into the mud and water-covered ground, my body sinking deeper into the cold soft ground.
I want to go home, I need to leave this place, I need to find the strength to get up
I need to return home, my brain racing as I try to find what my mind is so desperately seeking, what is the missing piece of the puzzle?
Then without warning, it comes to me, I see her beautiful face, her raven-coloured hair and those beautiful eyes that have always made me love her so deeply and why I need to leave this place.
My arm lifted from where it lay in the mud, the water dripping from where it had clung to my shirt, I reached skywards and could feel her calling to me, the voice of my true love beckoning me to come home.
My eyes closed once more and I could feel her touch against me. her hand taking hold of mine and I feel myself being pulled without struggle from the ground, my mouth whispering.
"Take me home"
