Have used one in the past. They do help make a mattress more comfortable if it has become less cushiony. If the mattress sags, it probably won't help much.

We use one on our futon. It definitively helps the comfort factor there.

Depends on the mattress. Many mattresses come with a topper. I wouldn't do a topper on-top of a mattress with an existing pad. Otherwise I would, they can save the mattress from some ware extending the life, and make the mattress a bit more comfortable.

nah, i don't bother, i just use a king sized padded duvet and put it on the mattress, then put my sheets over it, it gives extra padding and is a good idea.

I paid about 100 bucks for one, and it was so HOT, I couldn't stand it, so I gave it to a friend. What are they made of, plastic ?

I use it because I have a foam matterest - otherwise it's hot - and I hate to sleep hot

It is another lovely cushion layer between me and the mattress. Such a comfortable bed.
