When I was looking for a relationship still, if I felt a girl wasn't into me but just wanted to chat because she enjoyed talking to me, I did the same thing (called them out and cut contact). It's about not wasting time. Whether the pursuit is sexual or romantic in nature. Establishing intent is so very much key. So people don't waste their time.
I'm also a believer in the phrase "you can't have your cake and eat it too"
If you enjoy my company, talking to me etc, it's relationship time or go find someone elses time to waste. I have plenty of friends to just "talk to" and hang out with. I'm not going to be a girls fill in to chat until she finds another dude. The friend zone is a hellish place.
