just a reminder
As the holiday weekend gets closer just a reminder / tip.
I understand that most people dislike large commercial trucks.
Please just dont hang around them on the hwy , you may be in a blind spot, to close for the truck to move suddenly . and please if your passing ......do it with meaning.
This was a a tire blowout on the front pusher axle , tire was in good shape, plenty of tread, and air pressure was correct.
On hot days under load, tires are prone to heat related failures.
I got lucky i had just moved into the left hand lane do to the right lane being closed for road work .
The tire exploded but the " gator back" tread layer did not let go , this caused a almost instantaneous 2nd explosion of parts, ie: it totally wiped out the steel stairs .
One ended up in the grass median twisted and bent, the other you can see on the frame after i pulled it out from between the front axle and cab frame.
It bent and tore off the supports punctured the fuel tank , blew out the site glass on the 2nd axle and broke the bearing hub.
Spend as little time along side a truck as possible.
