Temporeal Idealization of the 1980's [I Want To Write My Random Thoughts And Feelings]

As of late there is an upsurge of nostalgia for the 80's, for the last 3 years or so i've idealized the filmic part of the enchanted decade, as that makes the most sense.

The films evocative of this time period are 80% of the horror genre.

It is the whole thing, time, place, fashion, music. In the mid 80's in many movies however is a trait i can do without, it is during party scenes were little micro scenes are built up, of snippets of conversations between 2 people, it comes in little clusters and is supposed to be comedic, it to me hearkens back to a time watching movies with relatives, and ergo is of a displacement origin, but in stark contrast to such blemishes is scenes of overblown melodrama, like one in the movie i'm re-watching now, 2 would be lovers with the sea as a backdrop speak about their love and difficulties to each other with sweeping orchestral accompaniment. It is stuff like that that makes up for dated conversational party montages.

The early 80's, for me belongs with the last 2 years of the 70's, these were stark and grey times.

The mid to late 80's were when splashy clothing, hairstyles and stuff came to the forefront, and portable cassette players.

The 80's when possible is as with every decade is limitlessly enjoyable when real locations are shown as a setting you can be immersed in, but the 70's is when the visual medium focused mostly on that, the 80's too often retreated into a fabricated setting, thus forcing disproportional focus on clothing etcetera found on the personages of the day.
