False rape claim

Should women face the same punishment as a man for falsely accusing a man of rape? Including but not limited to being placed on a sexual registry as well?

Not sure what this question is really about - or exactly why you're asking.

Fact is over 20 states and the District of Columbia already have specific statutes that make knowingly false criminal accusations punishable as felonies. They include -

California
Colorado
Delaware
Florida
Georgia
Hawaii
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Louisiana
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
Montana
Nevada
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
North Carolina
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Texas
Virginia
Washington

And a conviction for perjury is subject to fines and/or imprisonment nationwide, under both state federal statutes. So, the suggestion that a woman (or another male) can falsely accuse a man of rape or abuse and "get away with it" is wrong. The laws are clear and the penalties are real.

Regardless of rumors there is no "epidemic" of women filing unfounded charges. In 2024 rape & assault cases actually fell by over 8%. But in fact what FBI and other crime studies consistently find is that year after year, only 5% of rapes are actually reported by victims.

@GuiltyBiStander But it could happen, and it does happen. That is what this is about.

@MarkPaul

And the law can, and does already provide punishment for false accusations.

That's what my answer is about.
@MarkPaul Sure, it could happen, but it's already illegal to lie on a police report.

@GuiltyBiStander The laws might need to be strengthened.

@BohemianBabe And, yet people do lie to the police, to Congress, and to the voting public.

@MarkPaul

That's morality, not law.

The question I read was " Should a woman face the same punishment as a man for falsely accusing a man of rape ? "

My answer is yes - and they already do.

@GuiltyBiStander Well your answer, if you choose to stick with after being enlightened, will be wrong. The law is not equally administered or applied, it is not equal in the sense of justice for all, and it lacks the social stigma that is attached to male punishment. Now, let's be clear, this is not a call to go lenient on rapists. It is a call for equal justice for two sides of the same criminal act.

Excuse me, but sharing your own biases without facts isn't "enlightening" anyone. It's putting up your opinion, and arguing against anyone who disagrees.

Have fun with that, but please don't waste my time.

@GuiltyBiStander How rude and condescending. 🧐

@MarkPaul

... And accurate.
