yeah. a long time walk in customer. he was in his 50s too and he'd pay by check. but he'd get one of the girls to write it out for him and then he'd scribble his signature...he claimed his glasses weren't the right ones....every time?
Yes, my husband's Uncle John is 88 or something like that, he can't read, his family read his things and help him with most things, he certainly can't write. It's highly unusual tbh
He left school really young, came from a poor family.. He was a milkman for many years

Congratulations on keeping so young. What is your secret?
And yes, I live near a home for kids and young adults that have Down syndrome and most of them don't know how to read or write. Sad, very sad. It makes my heart bleed... 😓

Yes I used to employ someone who couldn’t read or write. He was really good at his job -self made man despite what other people would think was a massive deterrent to getting on in life

Yes one place I worked at in office I hand out the sand paper the workers needed and they had to write down what they got and sign it. This guy just stood there. Not say a thing, till another employee then tell me he couldn't read and write
