Other than human life, of course, it's not what you lose in life; it's what you do with what you have left, that counts.
That is an old phrase that the Lord himself gave me during the hardest times in my life, when I lost every single thing I owned and literally only had the clothes I was wearing, for myself, and I mean nothing else! I learned it well and know it to be so true. I, alone, by the grace of God and his help/direction, worked my way up to get the things I really needed. I had not one piece of furniture, silverware, clothes, bed, you name it. But I knew God would help me and he did.
God equipped us with more endurance, strength, and perseverance, than we give ourselves credit for. He gave us the God-given knowledge to change our lives in any direction, as we please. If we want something we will find a way and we won't give up until we do. That doesn't mean it everything has to be perfect. It only means that it will feel perfect to us and that will make us happy. Happiness doesn't always have to have the best thing. The best thing is to be happy and content with what we have. It's called gratitude and a thankful heart cannot be hateful and grateful at the same time.
We are called to give thanks, not just in the good circumstances, but in all circumstances. 1st Thessalonians 5:16 to 18. But how can we do that when times are hard? Count our blessings for the things we do have; that we are blessed with in so many ways, by the Lord. If we keep our eyes focused on Jesus, the cares of this world shall grow faintly dim, in the light of His glory and grace.
