I'm a big overthinker, and I dislike that.

It does me more harm than good. How do I stop overthinking? Usually, I waste time thinking about very trivial things that are most likely never going to happen.

I write down 'fears ' and that helps me . Meditation helps me as well and when things get painful again I start off doing the same again

Meditation is a good tool. However, some people are just overthinkers. If you can't stop your overthinking, you may be able to direct your thinking into ideas which are more pleasing to you. Overthink things that are fun and pleasurable.

It’s helpful to fine-tune it into ways that are more practical and useful. I’m over analytical also, but I’ve learned to reel it in once I start to go down a rabbit hole that serves no purpose. It’s OK to be aware of possible negative outcomes and to make decisions in your life to preemptively address those, but if you’re not able to address it then there’s no function in dwelling on it.

It’s also important to let your mind look at things from different angles without becoming hyper focused on the negative possibilities. Realistic positive outcomes and realistic neutral outcomes are equally valid.

@WhateverWorks Very well said.

If I knew I would help but I'm the same and still didn't find any solution. ☹️

@SW-User Nah, I relax too much. I rather need to get busy in a meaningful way.

Relaxing can be meaningful in a way 😉 @CrazyMusicLover

It's a shame you can't just snap your fingers and turn the chromosomes to XY - we hardly even think, let alone overthink.

then snap your fingers and get rid of the genetic disturbance.
YourMindsetMatters · 22-25, F
@Pretzel Alright then. Have a good day.

I'm apt to do that, especially over the last two years. I think of "worst case scenarios" and how I would deal with them. Sometimes this can be useful, though - sometimes you DO need to be prepared.
It takes some serious mental training. I've found that ,writing down my thoughts and trying to organize the important from the unimportant has really helped.

@XxlachilaxX Love it. Thanks.

You tell your brain, "Stop thinking negative, I will think positive and it will be ok." Then start focusing on a task that takes a lot of attention.
Me too. I find that if I am busy and have no time to overthink then I don’t overthink. Lately I’ve been giving myself self imposed deadlines that avoid me wasting my time. It works. Only drawback is when my brain wants to think at bedtime it leads to insomnia

Analytical thinker 🧐. It can be good and bad depending on when it’s applied .
