What is life supposed to be about?

Nothing.
People make sense out their own lives.
Whatever they choose, they choose because that is what makes sense to them.

Life is about confronting the fleeting futility of your own existence. It's about opening your mind to incomprehensible vastness of space and time in the universe and seeing your place as a fleeting mote in that vastness. It's about understanding how insignificant any action you may take today may be and taking action anyway and being OK with the outcome. It's about understanding the past that brought you here, seeing the moment in time that is your own existence, and trusting the future you will never experience.

You’re here to replicate your genes... that’s why they made you
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Mindful Actually, it’s rather cool that we’re here because every single one of our ancestors managed to successfully replicate in an unbroken chain for 13.5 billion years

If I ever need to feel special, that does it for me! 😀
Mindful · 56-60, F
@newjaninev2 awwwwww, thank you!that did make me feel special
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@Mindful There’s more! 😀

Because of our 13.5 billion year evolutionary history, we share genes with every living organism on Earth (and with every organism that has ever lived).

A stunning web of interconnectedness with all of life on the planet.

I'm currently preparing my dinner (it’s Sunday evening here) and I’m cutting up a capsicum (I think Americans call it a bell pepper). The capsicum and I share many genes. The rice I will eat with it shares many genes with me, as do the beans and the spinach.

I just hope that sharing my genes also makes the capsicum feel special! 😂

After a life altering event, it took me years to finally accept the cards I was dealt. Choosing not to merely exist and pray for the end, but to actually live. Life is a beautiful gift, and it's up to us to use it to the fullest.

Life is what you make it. I chose to make it interesting and exciting. Life just gets better every day,

We are here to evolve. To ask what it’s all about now is like looking at a half-built building and ask what it’s good for. We are only a few days out of the trees evolutionarily speaking. In another ten thousand generations or so it might then be a reasonable question.

Our descendants may one day look upon us as we look upon homo erectus.

@SW-User why not, there’s another dog in the neighborhood who takes a dump in the front yard every now and then. But first I need you to tell me, why do you sniff for the perfect spot? What are you sniffing for?

@SW-User hmmm…. Okay
Fluffybull · F
I think a lot of people are asking that after the last couple of years. For us, it's about spending more time with the people you care about most. Also getting the idiots out of your life.
You are right....

IMO, Life is a gift and by living as good as possible is how we appreciate this gift...
@Soossie No, life is a joke & it doesn't matter how much you live it. I stay in my apartment & only talk to my neighbors when necessary. A
@DropTopDig

Ok... If that is your opinion... and as long as you are ok with it...

Exactly, it's whatever you make of it.

I used to think that life is what you make of it but now I think we are basically forced to work until we are unable to.
We study through school to get a job that we will do until the end.
Forced to do things by greedy companies and people that are ultimately breaking the planet 🤔
I don't think my life is that great.

Interesting question - diesit have to be about anything? Perhaps it just is?
You can find your own meaning or none.
The onrky thing that seems to be common as with all animals, etc is the inate desire in most to procreate, to perpetuate the species.
