You're not being stupid, there is a lot of guilt and shame with families unfortunately even when you've cut someone out. It's okay to be conflicted, I second what Pentacorn said sleep on it.

He might be ill. I think it would be good to check. I always think of that movie with Clint Eastwood...Gran Torino. "Walter", the main character, had to have been a tough and verbally abusive father...and he tried to call his son when he knew he was dying...but couldn't bring himself to say anything.

Call him. Make peace with him while you can.

It means you have a heart. Besides, no one will blame you if you try again and it's the same old same old. It makes you the bigger person.

Listen to your heart.

Your mind will forgive you if he fucks up again. Your heart will nag at you if you never give him the chance. Hope it works out for you.

@hlpflwthat I think I'd literally murder him if he tried to hurt me now.
hlpflwthat · M
@SW-User If you think he would try to hurt you I don't think I'd call him.

@hlpflwthat I don't think he would, but I don't know what else you could have meant by fuck up?

Just remember you are an adult and he can't control you but you only have one father and you are an adult
