Oh well, busy, busy. Got back ladt night from a trip to Fife to check on mother in law as she had a fall. She's 88 later this month and was telling my wife, on the phone, that she thought she might have broken her hip!
So we rushed down on Saturday to check on her and found that the pain and problems walking had only kicked in a few days previously. The fall was about 10 days ago, and apart from some embarrassment she'd been fine. I think she has some kind of trapped nerve, but she thinks its far more serious. She then told us that her brother in law had broken his hip and to get a hip replacement operation.This had happened several weeks ago as he'd been home 3 weeks. Until we visited and talked to her about her fall she hadn't bithered to tell us anything about his problems. He and his wife live way down in Wales so we don't see them very often.
So we had an overnight stay where she talked at us about the people she doesnt like, her political views etc. She says she always votes Labour, but her views put her far to the right of the current tories or Reform.
After 35 years or so she treats me like a I'm a friend of a friend of the family. My wife has never got on with her, but she has that guilt associated with a parent she doesn't get on with.
Anyway job done for a while, but I expect we'll be back soon. Maybe next time I'll wear a nice dress just to annoy her!
