For me, it's the names of british recipes.
Witness, [i]bangers[/i]....[i]toad-in-the-hole[/i], and my personal favorite name evah [wait for it]......[i]"spotted dick![/i]"
[u]Bangers[/u]....a British breakfast sausage consisting of pork, pork fat, rusk, and spices to include sage and savory others.
[u]Toad-in-the-hole[/u]....a dish consisting of sausages place in a baking dish and covered in an egg/flour batter and cooked in the oven. It's served with an onion gravy.
[u]Spotted Dick[/u].....I've yet to make this one, but essentially it's a dessert, classified as a "pudding." though to me, it's more cake like. Consists of a steamed suet pudding containing dried fruit. The "spotted" part of the name refers to the currants, which resemble spots, and "Dick" is believed to derive from the word dough.
