The only reason I can think of for him to run is vote dilution. A common practice the GOP has used for years. They will pay a weak Democratic candidate under the table to run solely to dilute primary votes from the candidate they oppose the most. I’m assuming he’s running as a Democrat, apparently Christie flips a coin and picks parties at random.

To be honest, I'm glad there's an additional option, should he run, but I personally will wait to see what platform he runs on.
