I Met Someone Online Who Is Important to Me

Like A Daughter...    I met someone who has had a troubling past.  Life hadn't been easy for her even though she is still young.  I got to speaking with her and found many interests in common.  She was very reticent about sharing about herself.  Understandable, with her past always threatening to overwhelm her.  I know something of having such a past.  That wants to swallow you hole at times.  It is hard for me who has had a much longer life to deal with the disasters that happen in life.  How hard must it be for a young woman just becoming?  I told her about my past, what I'd done, and what I'd lost.  I laid this at her feet and said "You are not alone."  She slowly opened up about her past and is still working hard to overcome its tentacle-like shadow.  It takes great personal strength and perseverance to overcome the things that she has had to deal with.  I just want to be there for her, because she is like the daughter I never had.  I had all sons, but I did always want a daughter to dote upon.  She has talent, is smart, caring, and a wonderful personality.  And yes she is a pretty young lady as well, but that doesn't define who she is.  Her character does and it is a rock solid type that will be around long after the island has sunk into the sea.  She doesn't feel she is special, but true special people never do.  She is special to her parents, siblings, other family members, friends, and those of us on EP that know her.  I just hope she realizes one day just how special she really is and how her presence adds so much to other people's lives.  It is a gift that is priceless.  I love you for it.
