@startingover23 That would definitely be an issue. OpenAI fell into Microsoft's lap, as a way to finally broke through Google's technical superiority over search. If Google jumps aboard, it loses its search advantage.

@Thomas52 Supposedly a couple of other major players will be involved, including Khosla Ventures are joining the frenzy, but they don't have Microsoft's deep pockets. Generally speaking though, OpenAI now acts as a sort of "clearing house" kind of like the HuffPost, so there may be enough protections, to prevent this from getting monopolized by Microsoft, but Microsoft can be fastest to implement through its entire product line, making the switch from Microsoft Office, the standard for just about everyone (and Microsoft bread and butter), to something else.

It's a bit more complicated than you think. In certain things MS has partnered with Google such as the standard that tags data within html code. They both had got fed up with the standards associations.
Why is this significant? Well AI depends on such data searches within html code.
