How much has your rent gone up since the start of the Covid plandemic at the beginning of 2020 ?

I know it's hard to compare rents because the market varies so much and it's done differently country to country with different rules and ways of charging.

Here in Oz, rent on residential properties is almost universally charged per week.

When I first started renting after leaving my first ex, I was paying $195 a week for a small house in a rural region of another state to live near where the job I had at the time was.

When I started renting where I live now after leaving my second ex I was paying $330 a week. Last year it was increased by $10 a week.

Now my rent has just been increased from $340 a week to $390 a week starting next month. This is directly due to the market where rents have spiked up a lot as vacancies are low and competition for rentals is high.

If I lived in Sydney same property would rent for up to $1k a week.

A $50 per week increase is an extra $2600 rent over the 12 month term.

There are waterfront properties around here renting for around $750 to $1k a week - ouch!
