The reading journal of DefJef for August 11 to 12

Notes are important, i didn't factor that in in my bedtime post yesterday, i can have what i read enter my consciousness more by taking notes. Internalizing is the apt term for it.

Elena Ferrante - The Neapolitan Novels - almost done the 1st of the 4, references The Aeneid alot, i need that!!

Linotte: The Early Diary of Anais Nin (1914 - 1920) - 10 minute interlude, references some Victor Hugo short stories, from January of i think 1915 or 16. January 21 is her birthday.

William Gaddis' The Recognitions - i was 13% into it, but felt i needed to start again with online aid. Which i will insert here on this post.

notes and other supplementary material on all of Gaddis' stuff

The best videos i've seen ... others of course, but these are fundamental amongst them all for igniting an interest, one i'm watching a bit now is a guy who takes apart another guy's negative video review, fascinating.

That is my 1st wake period reading note type of thing, i see most of my time going to Gaddis, Ferrante and Vollmann, with nights like this a little deep dive into one of them which is Gaddis, since there is so much to chew on.

Long difficult books take a commitment, like marriage, it's super neat to me to stick with something for the long haul, i've failed so many times in the past with long novels and works, but this epoch is a new time and level.
