I know how that is. 馃檨
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@bijouxbroussard I should have been more careful. I definitely will be now and hope it's reversible.
@CrazyMusicLover It is possible to lower your sugar. I don鈥檛 know if you鈥檙e on insulin (I鈥檓 not) but light exercise, drinking extra water and having a meal of green veggies should lower it. I do that when it鈥檚 spiking and within a few hours it鈥檚 down.
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@bijouxbroussard No, nothing like that. Just elevated levels that are a warning sign of pre-diabetes. A wake up call for me because I don't feel well, my skin is in a bad condition and I noticed I drink too much liquids during a day and then go to toilet way too often so I did a test. So long it's not confirmed by a lab test by a doctor, I'm not going to freak out and it's probably nothing but it's a wake up call for me that I should change my lifestyle if I don't want to end up with diabetes.

My aunt is much older than me and once her levels shot up so she freaked out, started avoiding sugar like plague and when she took a test again her levels were very low.

Get out there and walk it off.馃樂

You have diabetes?
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@Spica No, I just have fear of being on the best way to develop it and have to change my lifestyle. My family noticed I drink too much liquids during a day and they found it suspicious. So I did a home test and it showed 5,7 mmol/L.
Spica31-35, F
Was that reading taken in the morning before breakfast? @CrazyMusicLover
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@Spica Yes

If you have wieght controlled diabetes then you can reverse it. I have been battling it for years. I was in great shape as a youngster then went nuts literally and gave up on life and comfort eating became one of my comforts. I started eating replacement s for sweet stuff like porridge with fruit. Horrid at first even though I don't mind porridge but after 6 months chocolate tasted sickly and disgusting. I started hitting the gym. Slow and realistically and now at 53 I'm in great shape with sugar levels the same as anyone without diabetes. I'm showing u this pic not to show off but to show you that I was once fit. Then fat. Now healthy. It's a slow long road but well worth it. Here's me a few months back. I wish u well. Get on it and try to beat it.
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@Perry1968 Nowhere near diabetes levels yet. Just a warning of possible pre-diabetes and with my lifestyle it's a wake up call to change my habits.
I'm glad you were able to get it under the control. You're the inspiration for many.

@CrazyMusicLover Get on it now my friend. You have every chance of being just fine 馃檪

@CrazyMusicLover I don't know What you mean by your lifestyle, but, it is worth a consultation with your physician.
IwillwaitM
What are your levels?
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@Iwillwait 5,7 mmol/L before eating
IwillwaitM
@CrazyMusicLover how are getting that? I only have a glucose monitor
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@Iwillwait The blood test kit. Like this...coincidentally I even found a picture with exact value it showed to me.

When you crave sweets it means your body really needs water. Just drink water. There鈥檚 an inexpensive program by Gina Livy that teaches people what to eat and at what time of the day in order to keep insulin levels at bay

Wow 馃槸. Especially be Careful of products with high fructose sucrose.

Sugar does great harm on the body and brain. When I gave up sugars all together..I had more energy and brain fog disappeared. I was sugar free for nearly 2yrs. During this pandemic, out of nervousness I began intaking sweets again. Omg.. so good and comforting..but...the side effects are back! Plus my 6mos check up.. sugar level slightly high, even after fasting.
Take care!!!
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@ShadowWorker I don't quite understand what people mean when they say giving up sugar. We need sugar for energy. Do you mean processed sugar? Or even fructose and lactose?
ShadowWorker61-69, F
@CrazyMusicLover raw sugar and things that had added sugars are the bad. Fruit and even corn naturally contain sugar...good sugar.
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@ShadowWorker I noticed people usually have different levels. The obvious one are all sweets, chocolates, cakes, pastry, sweeteners, sodas etc. that we really don't need and eat only for taste and comfort. Then there's next level when people ban white flour, pasta, white rice, sweet fruits like ripened bananas, plums, figs, sweet corn, carrots etc. which is a significant change in the diet and I wonder if that step is really needed. I understand why a person with diabetes shouldn't eat overly sweet fruits but I don't understand why some people act as if white rice and white flour was poison and the culprit behind every health issue.
Mugin1646-50, M
Poor you. I hope it is not bad. 馃

In better news, send all those chocolates and cakes my way! 馃い
samueltyler280-89, M
What test, how high. Why did you test?
CrazyMusicLover31-35
@samueltyler2 5,7 mmol/L before eating. A home test from fingertip blood. I wanted to know.
samueltyler280-89, M
@CrazyMusicLover yes, that is very slightly elevated. I would suggest your physician draw a hemoglobin A1C.
