Anyone here have trouble getting a pain med from their doctor?

My sister has AWFUL pain in her feet from diabetic neuropathy. It is agonizing and she said it's like a pliers is in her toes, ripping it. Nerves are severely compressed and inflamed with neuropathy so I can only imagine how horrible her pain is. She says the numbness is worse. But there's no treatment for that.

She was prescribed Gabapentin and Lyrica which are nerve meds but they do nothing. She truly needs a strong pain med and no doctor seems to want to prescribe one. Many other neuropathy patients on the forum she's on were prescribed morphine. Did you ever have issues trying to get a real medication for pain? She can't go on much longer like this.

I went 20+years ago for horrible migraines and my family doctor gave me some wonderful pain meds without giving me any problems. A couple of weeks later heard it was an addictive medication so I stopped taking it.

You just have to try and find one that will sometimes.... I know a local one in my hometown, prescribes anybody anything they want. He's been in trouble many times 😕

What to do:
Consult a doctor: If you experience extreme foot pain, it's crucial to see a healthcare professional to diagnose the underlying cause and discuss treatment options.
Manage underlying conditions: Addressing the root cause, like managing diabetes with proper blood sugar control, is key to managing neuropathy.
Pain management: Depending on severity, treatments may include medications like anticonvulsants, antidepressants, topical pain creams, or nerve blocks.
Lifestyle modifications: Wearing supportive shoes, foot care practices like regular inspection and moisturizing, gentle exercise, and avoiding activities that aggravate pain can help.

@Coralmist (((((HUGS))))) I am so very sorry your sister has gotten to that point :( I was told the same with motrin and tylenol, and a warm compress against my ear 🙄

@NativePortlander1970 Ty I could use all hugs I can get. I feel very helpless. She doesn't deserve this. Ty again, hope the ear feels better soon 🐞
