We do supposively do have fur...

Supposively scientist have compared is to chimpanzee and we pretty much have the same number of hair follicles as they do...

But the huge difference is theirs are very thick, while humans are extremely thin...

I don't think anyone has a freaking clue on why our hair is extremely thin in comparison...

But my wild guess is that humans dealt with water environments a lot more... and thinner hair is better for that... which is why some Pacific Islanders don't get any body hair... while some in more desert climates, can be more hairy.

One of the theories that the scientist had was do to sweating, and that humans needs less hair for the sweating functions of our bodies to work correctly and evaporate from the skin to cool us off... so as our sweating abilities developed to cool us off, so did for our need for a thick hair...

And while we're at it, also fire and the ability to control it, also helped us stay warm and less need for the thick hair as well.
Early hominids were much hairier.
My best guess would be that as we started wearing clothes, we needed hair less.
Possibly, if most people preferred less hair, sexual selection might also have had an effect.
Some men are so hursuit that one could almost call it fur.

We do just in other places. We used to have fur all over our body but wearing clothes and living in semiaquatic environments probably got rid of most of our fur.

We only have hair/fur on our head and underarms and pubic area.
