Honestly, who cares if random weirdos on social media follow you?
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@AngryOhioStateAlumnus Thanks for taking the trouble to comment.
AngryOhioStateAlumnus · 31-35, M
@Thomas52

No problem
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@SheCallsMeCrushDaddy I did wonder
Ya know...just sayin'............but at 70 to 79............be glad ANY woman is contacting you to say hi,
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@anythingoes477 True 😄
Havesomefun2 · 56-60, M
Yep it happens check them out and friends forum forums then make your mind up
DrWatson · 70-79, M
Yes it happens to me, and I ignore them. Often those accounts vanish in a short period of time. I assume they are men, who either get a thrill from pretending to be women or who are trying to scam me in some way.
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@DrWatson That was the conclusion I was coming to and thought I'd ask around.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@Thomas52 I sometimes wonder whether we older men are more frequently targeted, under the assumption that we are desperate for female attention! 😂
ArtieKat · M
@DrWatson I think there is something in that!
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
You are now ready to write a book and launch a social media enterprise on how-to pick-up women online who are scammers, catfish, and most likely men. You'll make a fortune.
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@MarkPaul I'll let you know when it's published.
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@Thomas52 Don't forget to add me in acknowledgements.
helenS · 36-40, F
'Hi, how are you?' is quite elaborate, in my experience.
'Hi sexy' is much more concise and "to the point" as a first message, or just a plain and simple 'Hi', without all that unnecessary bla bla bla 😑
helenS · 36-40, F
@Slade "Hello, thank you for your message. Did we meet somewhere else before?"
Slade · 56-60, M
@helenS I do feel a familiar tingle 🤔
SW-User
@helenS "Hi, how are you?" is clearly someone with tertiary education. Fine if you want an intellectual.
HoraceGreenley · 56-60, M
Yeah and on LinkedIn
IamLara · F
They are fake 😄
If ANYONE says hi to me......out of the blue or not.............what do I have to lose by saying hi back? This is after all a "s-o-c-i-a-l" media site.
helenS · 36-40, F
@anythingoes477 Yes exactly. I usually send a short reply.
4meAndyou · F
They are ALL gorgeous, hot and horny young women from Russia who just need you to send them $600 to fly to your loving arms. 🤣
Slade · 56-60, M
@4meAndyou Yeah. That's right!👍
they are fishing for.... something.. unlikely to BE who they suggest, eventually will ask you for something
Starcrossed · 41-45, F
Having been a member of this community and the previous site for many many years, I can say with good authority that a LOT of people don't bother to read your intro, pinned or recent stories. Or some when they do read it they'll still look you right in the eye whilst blatantly disregarding your requests.
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Are you Joe Biden?
smiler2012 · 56-60
@nedkelly 😆being a little cynical ned lol
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
[c=800000]Any comment I made would be considered to be in the "sour grapes" category! [/c]🤓
SkeetSkeet · 100+, F
Where's your new badge?
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@SkeetSkeet No idea 🤷‍♂️
Adstar · 56-60, M
I rarely ever receive that kind of attention.. And thats the way i like it.. I did not come in here to chase woman.. There are plenty of dating sites if people are focused on that.. And anyway there is not guarantee that the person is an actual female.. There are a lot of weirdo's in SW.. that's for sure..
ArishMell · 70-79, M
Blimey, Four words. That's remarkably literate of them!

I have had ones, from both men and women, that use just one word. That word is the ugly, peremptory command, warning or reprimand, "Hey!".

Most are probably innocent. They might just be rather shallow, lonely types wanting a sort of "pen-friend", but are in their state because they have nothing in their lives worth chatting about.
DHggmu · 31-35, M
I don’t even get messages from fake profiles anymore, sad times. I used to have an army of “girls into wrestling” that they turned sexual, was fun to play along sometimes when I was bored.
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@DHggmu Disappointing when you don't even get the momentary pleasure of seeing the little number pop up on the message symbol.
DHggmu · 31-35, M
@Thomas52 It’s very rare but always disappointing when it’s clearly a fake profile.
meggie · F
I've had both men and women do that and ignore them. Sometimes if you google their username you find they are on other sites, usually sex ones.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@meggie They use the same nick-names from site to site? Not best practice for security and privacy. I wonder if they use the same pass-words, too.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
I don't think very many people read those message introductions
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
[c=002673]I have quite a few older men check out my profile. Much to my dismay.
What is your secret with being able to get young ladies to follow and message you? [/c]
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@ProfessorPlum77 As I say...I wish I had known the secret when I was 20. I check out lots of profiles, including older men, in case we have something in common to talk about. For me, this is not only about sex and relationships.
ProfessorPlum77 · 70-79, MVIP
@Thomas52 I know what you mean when you say you wish you had known the secret when you were 20.
SW-User
The secret is we didn't have computers in our younger days, just telephones. 🤣 🤔
Thomas52 · 70-79, M
@SW-User In my early 20s I didn't even have a phone in my own home. Phone boxes were the order of the day until I was nearly 30 when I could afford a mortgage and put in a comparatively expensive line.
SW-User
@Thomas52 Yea, I was kind of past that. We were at that time were we were actually talking about seeing the person we were talking to. 😀 🙂
MartinII · 70-79, M
I have been a member here for six years and I cannot remember ever receiving an unsolicited message from someone who didn’t at least seem to be genuine. Whether they have all in fact been genuine is a separate question - I’m a fairly trusting type.
