International Women's Day is a political event [I Support Feminism]
People have been posting about giving flowers and appreciating their mothers, and that is all well and good.
But International Women's Day, March 8, made official in 1911, was born of women's political struggles regarding labor conditions, voting rights, pay equity, etc. It is a product of the labor movement, socialism, and feminism. Through the years, it has been marked by protest marches, not bouquets of flowers.
And I support it.
