Do you guys really believe in those at home covid test?

I’m having a feeling that I don’t really have covid. I did the test and it came out positive. I mean I do have most of the symptoms. I just don’t wanna get fired from my job.

You can't get fired for having COVID. Don't be selfish and infect every you work with. Stay home.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@MarkPaul Exactly. I told them that I’m not going to be selfish and go to work so the damn place can be shit down. Fuck that! I’m keeping my ass hike. I already told my boss I’m not coming into work this week.

They're certainly not 100% accurate, but if you have symptoms and the test is showing a positive results it's best to err on the side of caution and take the time off that you need.

If anyone questions it then you have the test result as 'proof'. You can even go so far as to send them a photo of the result.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@Whodunnit I did send them proof. I tested twice and both came out positive.
What about when you take test from like Walgreens or whatever? Are those 100% accurate
Whodunnit · M
@PetiteJulie01 I can't comment on those as I don't live in a country that has Walgreens, lol

I don't personally think ANY of the home tests are 100% accurate for a variety of factors.

Rest assured though, you've done everything you needed to. You've identified your symptoms, you've taken tests, you've isolated.
Have you taken only one at-home test? If two, were they both positive??

I think those rapid antigen tests have a higher false negative rate and a lower false positive rate.

In other words, if I got a positive test, I would take it seriously and stay home the recommended time. The rapid tests detect molecules called antigens which are made by the virus.

As your body fights the disease, antigen levels go down. So after a few days, the rapid tests may show a negative. But some people are still shedding virus after their antigen levels drop. So the waiting period is kind of a safety thing to make it less likely you're shedding virus.
Negative results don't mean too much as that can mean many things: you don't have COVID, but also the infection was too recent, you used the test improperly, etc. So it's still very well possible to have COVID with a negative test. But positive results are near 100% accurate.

Stay home. Don’t come to work and bring that covid shit to your coworkers. That’s stupid and selfish. Just saying. I got tested positive too and I’m keeping myself home for a couple days. Please take care of yourself. I tested myself twice and it came out positive.
I have the free ones that came in the mail but they have since expired. Fortunately, I've been well, so no need to use them.

@DreamyCrush lucky you
Aidan · 26-30
Yes, the home test are usually accurate and if you’re having symptoms then why would it be wrong. Feel better soon!
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@Aidan I mean It isn’t wrong. I just don’t wanna get fired. If I feel better by the next couple of days after the five days, I can go back to work.
4meAndyou · F
If your at home test is positive, you should test a second time, always, to make sure.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@4meAndyou I did twice and both came out positive
4meAndyou · F
@PetiteJulie01 You probably have covid for sure. Let your boss know.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@4meAndyou she already knows
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
It's against the law to fire you for falling ill, don't be stupid and stay home.

Yes, if it shows a positive then it's very unlikely that it's false. It's only in the case where it shows negative where it's unreliable.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@MartinTheFirst Yeah. We’ll I already told them I’m staying home and I’m not going to be the reason the store will be shut down. Fuck that. I’m not that selfish person so I care enough to stay home.

Yes. It is very accurate in my own experience *IF* tested within the first week of infection.
crownedwithlaurel97 · 26-30, F
if you’re unsure then take another one if possible. the odds of a false positive on both tests is very small

I had a mysterious illness that seemed worse than Covid but it came out negative. 🤔

There are some that are better than others.
REMsleep · 41-45, F
You cannot get fired for having covid and those tests are actually very reliable if any mistake was to be made it would be a false negative not a false positive.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@REMsleep I got tested twice
