Is it weird that I haven't explored my new neighborhood but will drive to my old one to walk around in instead?

I don't feel comfortable walking around my apartment complex alone and I haven't explored the neighborhood around it. I normally just drive to my old neighborhood if I want to walk around or go to a park.
