I've thought about prepping for any kind of disaster in the future

And thought about getting a few of those oil burner things they use in banquets and hotels for setting up food to keep them warm. Is that something you could just light, then put your pot over to warm up food? Like indoors?

Sounds like a good idea. Just make sure they are for indoor use, wouldn't want any type of fumes or smoke making you sick, or killing you.

we had an all-day power outage during an ice storm year before last. I used 4 votive candles and had a rack to set over them and warmed up a small pan of enchiladas and heated some water for tea. Takes quite a while to do that but we were getting cold and needed something. You can get small propane cookers or butane cookers to use indoors, better to use outside or on a covered deck or in a side room with the windows open though. Also I have a rocket stove and can use a tin of Sterno in it, fits perfectly in the stove. I have an unseated sunroom I could use it in. Could also refill the Sterno containers with denatured alcohol and cotton balls.
