Is it bad that I talk about my dog a lot. I notice other people talk about their kids or their work?

I've noticed that whenever something new happens in my life, people seem to try to minimise it...
People have kids and get obsessed about their child.
Or they're doing really well at work and they talk about that a lot and want you to be interested and as excited as they are.
But it's not reciprocated...
I'm know I said this before but I'm definitely wondering if I'm just a loser that attracts selfish people.

No human will ever love me like my dogs do.
kodiac · 22-25, M
@Eddiesolds Both are a little older now lol
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@kodiac Yes. I think about that. Cute little babies!
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@kodiac thank you xxx

My dog is all I have or want. I dont care if people like it or not. I have trained my dogs to be well behaved. They are loved
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Hell no, you should be proud of your children and every parent that has children will always talk about them. I am waiting for my daughter to have a baby, I took her to the hospital this afternoon and will have a C-Section on Wednesday or Thursday and his name will be Zackery Belford XXXXXXX

His middle name is after the great Bon Scott
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@nedkelly but I don't have children just a dog.
Congratulations. And good luck.
Kids are a blessing x
nedkelly · 61-69, M
@Mellowgirl I am sorry, but everyone loves dogs and be very proud of your dog
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@nedkelly thanks... I'm trying to make the most of our time together. There are a lot of situations whereby I can't go to certain places because of him at the drop of a hat.
Which seems to frustrate the very few people in my life. And personally this seems to be because they don't ever make plans.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
When you get unconditional love from a pet. It is worth shouting from the rooftops.
No you dont talk about your pet enough imo.
I always tell others about my cats. Because they know me the best. They are my best mates. Through it all. The good the bad. They still remain
Cant say that for people realistically
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Gangstress I love hearing your pet. Stories.
And of your birds.
Animals are funny.
If only more people were to talk more aboit their pets I reckon the world would be a far better place. I know some people who willingly say that they prefer animals to people. Animals give love unconditionally. How many humans can honestly say that?
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@jackieash27 very few...
I like people but they always run from me.
I give off needy energy.
My dog will cuddle then run off after a few mins
Entwistle · 56-60, M
@jackieash27 Ive heard several people say they trust animals more than they do people... i'm getting to thinking that way myself now.
Andromedanian · 22-25, M
I feel you, I don't think it's bad, some people are just, dumb, quite honestly. They think for some reason everyone is interested in their child's highlights even though the kid may be the worst misbehaved brat ever, the reason why, is because sometimes they honestly don't have anything else to talk about, and when their kids do accomplish something. They brag about it as though if it was something they did.

People like that often times do bore me and upset me, I try to be nice and listen to them but often times they do not take the cues for letting them know nicely quite honestly you're not interested.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Andromedanian I hear you...
I've waited 11years for this particular dog breed. I've had many people tell me not to get a dog. But I realise now it's because they didn't like dogs.
Now I have him they're pissed I talk about him. I'm giving him 100% dedication and attention, because it's new to us both.
Training is full on everyday simply because for 8 months he's been left to do his own thing.

Our thing is trust.

As I mentioned he will cuddle but for a min then run off or sit at my feet on the sofa

@Andromedanian
they honestly don't have anything else to talk about,
People like that often times do bore me and upset
This
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Chickie I find people to just be really dismissive of me.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
I think if you have strong empathy, you tend to feel things with others… not everyone has that ability. It seems these days that most people have envy when someone around them is doing well, instead of feeling happy for/with them
Mrjingleswilly · 51-55, M
There’s a lot of self-absorbed people out there. Where I work I’m lucky if I get to finish a sentence, let alone a thought, before someone interrupts. People don’t listen to each other.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Mrjingleswilly it's scary.
I remember visiting family members years back and that was all they did.
Tallk about their kids, show me videos and then insult me by saying things like.
You wouldn't understand since you don't have kids yet!
They then would start talking to other relatives and not bother ask me what I've been up to...
Mrjingleswilly · 51-55, M
@Mellowgirl It doesn’t even occur to them to take an interest.
BeJeweled · F
I have a dog and I show him off as much as I can. Proud dog parent here.

I try to be, and please myself. 👍
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Dino11 I love this... Have heard it and forget it often.

This is so true.
I personally have not malice in my heart for others and love hearing anyone's good news it's just not reciprocated.
Dino11 · M
@Mellowgirl You are doing just fine.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Dino11 thank you x
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
I love hearing about your dog. Dont think about it pet talk always makes me smile.I think i used to talk about my cat alot when i had him. Wish he didnt dissapear.please pat him for me. Thankyou!
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Eddiesolds aww thank you...
I have given him a big olcuddke and some scratches behind the ears for you.
I'm sorry to hear about your cat. That is incredibly difficult and must be quite frustrating, it's the not knowing they're alright.

But I can only hope he is being feed by someone elde
Eddiesolds · 61-69, M
@Mellowgirl Thankyou for patting him for me. Cute little baby.
Nah….you’re not a loser. Just be you…talk bout what you like/love etc.

If other’s don’t get it, so be it. Don’t be affected by them. 🤗🌸
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@Vivaci thank you beautiful xxx
People certainly talk about their pets here. People discuss the things and beings in their lives that they love. No one who would minimize something that matters to you means you well, and their opinions should be ignored.
You’re not a loser. 🥺
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard it's painful if I'm honest because it's 2 of the closest people in my life. They've effectively stopped visiting, calling or spending time with me as much since I got him.
(mum included)
I'm disappointed really since I'm working really hard to get him to a point where he listens to my commands. Today he was really good.
He didn't know I had treats as the bag I had I was a zip lock bag.
So he couldn't hear the ruffles just smelt them as I brought them out to reward him for his good behaviour
@Mellowgirl Sadly, at different points in a lot of people’s lives the most loyal and loving presence has been their pet. I can remember awful days at work when I’d come home miserable, until my cat would climb onto my lap, purring. Pets improve one’s life, no question.
Mellowgirl · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard 100% agree.
He loves to cuddle with me on the sofa, so I know he hates going into his crate but because Im dating I don't want there to be a territorial issue with my bedroom/bed.
So he needs to have his space that he can go to.
The last 2 nights he's been getting better at letting me put him in the crate which is good.

Today was a really good day although we spent a lot of it napping on the sofa.
But it's really helping us to bond. When he's not being told to sit on his mat. 🤣
Chickie · F
You're not a loser person people who obsessively talk about their children are boring and have no life before them, most people kids are ugly and crotch goblins anyway.
