Growing up were you hit by objects like a belt or a stick or in my case a rolled up newspaper or magazine?

I used to get hit with a rolled up newspaper or magazine. There was always one ready to go on the side table. I've gotten the hand, ive also been hit by the broom and i do remember getting a box of mac and cheese thrown at me
