USA Congress members are proficient at insider trading. They told what bills are going to be put up for votes weeks before it happens and in the meantime they find out what stocks will profit from those bills and they start investing money in them. They keep making a lot of money that way and soon they can be multi-millionaires. I think for the bulk of these Congress members it’s the one thing that keeps them in politics and motivations them to run again and again. Public servants, my ass.
I plan on voting for trump 24 so age limits don't mean anything
carpediem · 61-69, M
I'm less concerned about age but more focused on term limits.
Mindful · 56-60, F
That’s why there has been a push on term limits. But just like prisoners, the price of re-entering the workforce is cosyvwith life long pension:retirement plans. But cutting out the ongoing salary would help with re- elections. And re entering the workforce I would ought to be nearly 99% higher than that of a prisoner.

And no pension.

@MrBrownstone no public pension should be higher than the average income
Mindful · 56-60, F
@MrBrownstone I’m okay with that but I would allow for pension contributions WHILE serving
fanuc2013 · 51-55, F
Agreed! I find it interesting that Biden served 40 yrs in Congress and is now a multi millionaire on a government salary! And there are many other examples of the same, in both parties!

Age isn’t the problem it’s the type of person that’s the problem
Baremine · 70-79, C
I could go for 70 but only two terms.
Fertilization · 36-40, F

ScarletWitch · 31-35, F
I dunno it takes them nearly their whole lives to get to where they are. And peoples life expectancy is 70.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
Given most of them will never mature, why not at 12?

@Stereoguy Oh yeah and if they want to buy a home somewhere in their district they can get a deep discount for it too. I’ve heard of one member who bought a house in his hometown for $15,000…when Congress was out of session he would fly back to his area (free of course) and go to that little house. It was also filled with artwork. All of his homes are, he has at least 3 here and at least two in other countries.
