Can We Protect The Children?

Why not stand behind protecting our schools, with structural hardening and 'ARMED" security personnel and trained staff?

Political 'Gun' grabbing is ineffectual, despicable, irresponsible and dangerous!

I am so sick of this mentality.

We have had almost three decades to fix this.

The 'gun control' narrative is more important to the left than child protection!

Shame on them all. It's so sad and so obvious!
firefall · 61-69, M
Because 19 armed police stood around for an hour, too afraid to intervene. And they had recently been trained in active shooter scenarios. Adding more will just cost money and not increase effect.

As for so-called Gun grabbing being ineffectual, it works fine in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. How on earth could you justify it as ineffectual.

As for shame, you are the one that should be ashamed, needing to protect your pathetic fragile masculinity with this litany of lies
Oster1 · M
@firefall Why block? Perhaps, you are part of the problem, Firefall. 😔
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@firefall Many more than 19, it was at least 40 officers all wearing bulletproof vests
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@cherokeepatti Bulletproof vests won't prevent you from getting a fatal bullet wound.

People act like the only way a group of people ever dies is due to someone with a gun.

Mass killings have been going on for like.... FOREVER! What they all have in common is nut cases!
And... groups of people all gathered in one place.
The choice of weapons vary... even a grenade! I'll bet grenades were "allowed" to the mainstream public. Right?

Can't even trust the damn bus driver!!
Protect your children in any way you can. It's really not safe to have big groups of people...children or adults. You all become targets just for the fact you are easy in big groups.

Nobody seems to bat an eye when our children are taught to take cover from bombs and what not
"On August 29, 1949, the Soviet Union detonated its first nuclear device at a remote site in Kazakhstan, signaling a new and terrifying phase in the Cold War. By the early 1950s, schools across the United States were training students to dive under their desks and cover their heads. The now-infamous duck-and-cover drills simulated what should be done in case of an atomic attack—and channeled a growing panic over an escalating arms race.

“During this period, the United States is suddenly having to really reckon with the fact that it is not the only nuclear power out there anymore,” says Alex Wellerstein, a historian of science and nuclear weapons and professor at the Stevens Institute of Technology. “Now, instead of just seeing the bomb as this asset that we could use or not use...it suddenly is brought to bear that this is something that could be used against us.”"

Ever wonder what the hell is wrong with people? Wars, harming others, self harming and so much more. And so many sitting on social sites acting like taking some damn LEGAL guns or limiting them will stop the bogey man and company.

@SW-User Here in Michigan, a deranged man placed dynamite in a school and killed a lot of kids back in the 1920s! McVeigh killed a lot of kids with a truck bomb! I'm sure there are many more cases!

Since the beginning of the human history, there has been evil. Evil will continue to exist no matter how much gun control is implemented. Take away guns from good people, and you give evil the upper hand. They will always find a way to get a gun.

Breitbart published an article in 2018. The US ranked 64th out of 97 countries with respect to mass shootings. The US has 5% of the world's population, but 1.15% of the mass shootings. The media will have you believe this is the only place on earth where these atrocities happen. That leads to the bulls*t narrative that getting rid of guns will get rid of the problem. Nothing could be further from the truth.

https://www.breitbart.com/2nd-amendment/2018/12/04/study-us-ranks-64th-list-countries-mass-shootings/

A political party willing to kill a baby in the womb up to and even just after it leaves the womb does not care about the lives of children. They want to disarm the American populace, and will use their typical narrative and tactics to demonize law abiding citizens for simply exercising their Constitutional right.

I realize this isn't a simple debate, because guns are used to commit horrific crimes. But the horror of tyranny will be far, [big]far[/big] worse if the American populace becomes disarmed.
@Changeisgonnacome Through out history, gov't has disarmed its citizens for the sole purpose of controlling them. Many scolars have written about it over the centuries, including Socrates roughly 2500 years ago. Go ahead and villify. You're an absolute fool for ignoring history and the evil and corruption that often resides within those in power. The founding fathers wrote the 2nd Amendment to prevent governments and fools to force others to relinquish their right to defend themselves.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@BizSuitStacy Some State constitutions include articles that specify that the people have the right to overthrow an oppressive government by whatever means they deem necessary. Of course if they fail they can be tried for treason so it's an all-or-nothing game.
@Diotrephes True!
nedkelly · 61-69, M
it is a very sad state of affairs in the USA, if you need to have armed guards at any school
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@soar2newhighs too many people who are not loyal to the American Constitution or the citizens are embedded in jobs all over this country and will play these sick games to get what they want. Someone on another site said in every one of these orchestrated shootings that you’ll see someone in law sporting a Free Mason symbol. She posted a photo with a law officer wearing one in this recent shooting and has posted them from other shootings too.
@cherokeepatti That I have not seen, but in general as I said I put nothing beyond the government and those in the shadows who control the government, from JFK to 9/11 and beyond.
Diotrephes · 70-79, M
@nedkelly Cops in schools today represent a little progress. Army troops with bayonets on their rifles were normal scenes at some schools a few years ago = https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/gabrielsanchez/little-rock-nine
DUUUDE!!! The Uvalde school had an armed guard!!!

The school had active shooter training. There was a "good guy with a gun" on the scene. Didn't prevent the tragedy.

Funny thing: no guns allowed at RNC conventions.
Funny thing: no guns allowed at Trump rallies.
Funny thing: no guns allowed when Trump speaks to the NRA.
I guess cons know how to keep a child safe after all!!!
@Oster1
Translation: you can no longer deny that there was an officer on site outside the school when the shooter was on site outside the school.
McCraw added that the school police officer actually drove past the gunman, who was hiding behind a car.
In short, there was good guy with a gun on campus with the shooter, and it wasn't sufficient. Maybe they need TWO good guys with guns?? Or THREE???
Oster1 · M
@ElwoodBlues I actually feel pity for you. It's so pathetic and hard to watch.

I sure wish you well, OK. Take care. 🤗😔
@Oster1 When a conservative abandons reason and starts throwing insults at me, that's how I know they've conceded the debate.

I humbly accept your concession that you can no longer deny that there was an officer on site outside the school when the shooter was on site outside the school, and that the presence of the officer was insufficient to prevent the mass killing.
Rhode57 · 56-60, M
In the uk this doesnt happen because no one is allowed to own a gun . Even our armed police arnt allowed to have a gun while off duty their all safely locked up . Guns in public hands is just asking for trouble . In the uk you need to have a real good reason to own a gun . It is illegal for shops to sell firearms . As I have said before , they need to take guns out of public ownership . There is absolutely no reason for people to own guns unless your livelyhood rellies on it . One example is alligator hunting . The US needs to clamp down on gun ownership and stop the bullshit of everyones right to own a gun . Its not a right its a privilage and should be respected as such . The president needs to get a backbone and stand up to the gun lobby and say enough is enough . He needs to take back his position as head of state and put into law what is needed to take guns out of public hands .

Yeah, make public schools even more like prison.

This is a societal issue dude it goes deeper than increasing security. Is that our best and most feasible option? Maybe. Whatever it takes to make a dumpster fire smell a little sweeter i suppose.

What it boils down to is that this nation as it is is a sinking ship and those who are wise should start heading for the life boats ahead of rush hour.
@BizSuitStacy One would have thought that after the softball game in Washington, D.C. a few years back where a shooter fired on and hit certain members of Congress, that would have been a wake up call. I guess not. “
And the beat goes on…”
Carazaa · F
@Changeisgonnacome Yes ofcourse that is the solution, but people care more about freedom than kids, and America has lost its soul when Americans don't care about daily mass shootings. There is one or 2 every day.
sunsporter1649 · 70-79, M
@Carazaa Nor about 51 people broiling to death in a trailer, but since that is demonocrat policy, who cares, right?
therighttothink50 · 56-60, M
You need to fix their minds first above everything.

Truth has become a menace and logic the new enemy,
For the younger generation are now unable to clearly see, just a bunch of young kids left with a bunch of worthless college degrees,

Children mired within a mindset of delusion, a state of confusion,
Existing in a life of illusion,

Their brains becoming rewired,
Leftist propaganda spreading like wild fire, evil people who constantly conspire, making most of us angry and tired,

Hooked up to their indoctrination devices,
Minds frozen and hearts as cold as ice,
Common sense has become their vice,

Part of a climate cult that batters and destroys everything in site,
Unable to distinguish darkness from light,

Defined by their arrogance and spite,
Unable to recognize wrong from right,

The future slaves of their masters of leftist gobbledygook and marxist indoctrination,
Everything they say or do contributes to the downfall of freedom and independent nations,
That in a nutshell is the younger generation.....

MarineBob · 56-60, M
Let's not make this about guns.
The issue it seems to me is that a young man who was bullied all through school lost himself.lets find out which school employees knew of the bullying and end their careers since they aren't there for all kids
Oster1 · M
@cherokeepatti Agreed. There are so many anomalies.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Oster1 If it’s on the tv news people will believe it regardless of if some things don’t fit the narrative. There’s a pattern of that with these events.
Oster1 · M
@cherokeepatti It sure is and they really do! Below, someone kept saying there was an armed gaurd at the school. It was reported but not true. They were so sure and arrogant.
The government and administration are so smitten with our educational system, then they should start hiring “ home schooling” teachers so
Kids might not have to be sent to a school/ schools that are not effectively able to thwart people with weapons.
That 40 billion going to IMO a lost cause , Ukraine , could have been better spent addressing the issue we’re now talking about.
Oster1 · M
@soar2newhighs I read this earlier. Ridiculous!
@Oster1 I speak for myself and no one else as an AF veteran, and that is, any USAF Commander condoning this, IMO will not buck this feckless Administration and feckless military for fear of losing their pensions.
Oster1 · M
@soar2newhighs Exactly! Thank you, for your service, too! 👍
No, as certain people feel their guns are more important than the lives of our children.

In 10th grade for me is when sandy hook happened and since then we had active shooter drills. I remember thinking after that how easy it was for someone to come in to my school and shoot me since all the security staff was is unarmed senior citizens.

There's been times years ago When I was at Highschool and the Security been working there many years and yet. He feels like "Fuck it I'm done now".

He wasn't even meant for security what I heard. There was Rumors about Him getting pot from students in order to not report them.

@ElwoodBlues he wasn't a good guy,he was a fucken coward
@Tres13 So what you're telling us is that your proposed solution
The gun is here to stay Arm guards & teachers at all schools
will totally fail because, as you agree, you can't depend on "Arm guards" to do their job.

OK, care to try again? Have you got any proposals that might be more successful than armed guards in schools??
Viper · M
How about simply build the police stations right next to the schools?
Oster1 · M
@Viper They still need to be there!
@Viper They'd still need to have the balls to run in when there's a shooting.
Carazaa · F
There were many armed people in the elementary school shooting. Today was another shooting at a graduation party. there have been 1 -3 mass shootings every day 2022 . They are all over not just in schools. We don't need guns. They are dangerous. Europe doesn't allow guns and they don't have hardly any mass shootings compare to the USA which have 215 this year alone.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
