How to reply to such a toxic person?

If someone from your in-laws (who you give short replies to because you don't like that person), purposely tries to ask more questions on whatsapp to keep the conversation going because they know you don't like them, so what should you do?
Is it better to keep the conversation as short as possible and avoid replying to all the questions?

You are under no obligation to converse with people you don't like, no matter their relationship to you.
When they do clue in they will use anything you say/post against you. Keep it short.
You could

• tell them you are busy and ask them to get to the point

• directly ask if they have anything to actually say, or if they are just frittering away their time on the app

• tell them you don't use the app for inane chit-chat...wait for them to Google "inane"...and remove them from your whatsapp while they are doing so...

@TexChik They are in-laws, so blocking is not an option 🙁

Tell them you have actual work to do

My son ends all conversations with me very quickly by replying yes, no, maybe. He doesn't seem to enjoy talking, and always tells me he is very busy.

Consistently derail the conversation into complete nonsense.
