Imagine how the Beckham Kids feel after they told the world Romeo is named cos he was conceived in Rome, Cruise cos he was conceived on a boat, and the boys look at Harper and then the Harp in the corner and wonder "How the F$%^k?"

@LikeMind Didn't know the Beckhams had an Alley, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they did name one Alley

Those are mild. Try these back in the late 70's and mild 80's.

Tala the mother. Daughter Majah.

Couple of sisters Arah and Layah.

Freaky girl and mother of ten herself, Octavia.
I don't understand why people abandoned the good old names like Quintus, Sextus, Septimus, Octavius, Nonus, and Decimus!

Oh, let's not forget the classic female names: Prima, Secunda, Tertia, Quarta, Quinta, Sexta, Septima, Octavia, Nona and Decima!! Those were the good names! None of this Mary or Anne stuff!!
👍 You got that right!! I've seen much worse. Taylor and Delilah aren't bad, imho. It's awful, the names these poor babies have to live with it, because their moms want them to stand out. I'd have changed my name, had my mother named me Gabriella! Think, people! Who wants to be called "Gabby" all their life? 🙄🤦‍♀️

All culture is influenced by media, though. The "common" names you listed are Biblical- they were given so frequently because they were known so widely. I don't see an issue with unique names tbh- why would I want my kid to go by "Alyssa B" In school instead of just her first name if possible. We live in a culture now where unique names are popular- so just like when the masses were named after Biblical figures based on that culture, names are now shifting with culture. Nothing wrong with people having different preferences. My name is Camellia, which is a flower- but I have never had to go by "Camellia B" or met another Camellia. And I like it that way.
The only issue I have is when parents give their kids a name without considering how it will make the kid feel. I had a kid at my church that was named "Lukas Sky-walker", and he got teased to no end. So while I think it is okay to have your own preferences based on culture, you need to name your kid with the realization that this is a name they need to be able to peacefully exist with.
