because no one will believe you. They think that person is such a nice, great person and youll look crazy if you speak up .

@Gangstress I hate for that to happen because theyll likely suffer the same abuse. Itll be too late for them nd theyll live with the consequences/trauma from their bad treatment .

Yes, they can be hugely charming and manipulative and their friends or others think they can do no wrong. The mask is in place for the public.
