I quit with the help of Zyban, and it worked. I quit smoking about 25 years ago and not a single cigarettes since. After 30 years as a serious smoker.

I was the worse kind of smoker. A romantic smoker. Like even death would be a celebrated event if John Wayne held a lit cigarette to my lips as I took one last puff as I ascended into heaven. Like the joy of witnessing sunrise and sunset were ramped up 10-fold by lighting up.

Step 1 - plan to quit, not just to slow down. List all the reasons why you want to quit and list all the obstacles that will sabotage you if and when you do quit. Get all this out front and well in your awareness well before you pick your quit day.

Step 2 - convince yourself that "just one" is a lie. Just one will just make you cough and feeling empty, in need of more to thoroughly fill your addiction. It might take an entire pack of cigarettes to get back that feeling, but "just one" will be the gateway.

Step 3 - at the beginning of each day, convince yourself that the most important thing that you will do that day is to not smoke a cigarette. If you later think your need for a cigarette is interfering with your life, it's not. What's important is to not smoke. Everything else is less important.

Step 4 - take a mid day break to explain to yourself why you are no longer a smoker.

Step 5 - at the end of each day, have a serious conversation with yourself about how all those urges to smoke were simply tricks by the addiction to undermine your love for yourself.

Step 6 - take your achievement and success to bed with you. Pat yourself on the back. TOUCHDOWN. You 1 - Addiction 0.

Repeat the above daily for the next 30 days. The next 30 days will be easier. And easier again for the next. If you still feel like smoking after 90 days without, tell yourself that you will consider smoking again when you celebrate our 85th birthday.

The above is a bit easier with the the help of anti-compulsive behavior drugs like Zyban or Wellbutrin ... drugs that give one a bit of an edge in overcoming compulsive behaviors.

Hang in there. Quitting smoking is about self love.

i switched from smoking to a smok novo 3 and I really like it. its very easy to use and i agree with getting the nic salts. only problem is i have two of them and one hits better than the other so it might be a little bit of a gamble whether you get a good one or not. i use the novo 3 mesh .8 pods. it can be alittle tricky to refill but i think it's worth it. there's two kinds of pods. a black box and a white box. the black box pods the little red tab always rips on me so i buy the ones in the white box with the black tab.

@basilfawlty89 yeah thats why i like the smok. they are purely draw activated and lower wattage and less expensive too

@Candie a device like it is I think the caliburn. The no button thing is cool when you stop smoking, but it breaks easily, that's the thing. The Boost isn't that cheap, but it's nearly unbreakable.

@basilfawlty89 ive had mine for months so i cant attest to its longevity but i still lik ethem. if they break though id look into your suggestions. thank you

I'm right along with ya. I love my cigarettes. I would love to quit, but I don't wanna quit, if that makes any sense. I have no advice, because I can't slow it down myself without being right back to where I am again. Try gum maybe?

Sometimes the act of doing something will quell it. Try sipping water. Yeah still gonna be difficult.

@curiosi ha ha nice try

@FurryFace It's how I did it.
If you enjoy smoking, just smoke but at least try to cut down. The more you stress about it the more you'll be driven back.

I have a friend who's smoked for years and he simply quit worrying about it and now naturally only smokes a couple a day. He's not trying to cut back, he just doesn't think about them like one who's trying to quit can't get them out of their mind.

I know I'm killing myself with alcohol, but I don't care because I love drinking and willing to die an early death for them. We all have to go sometime and I hear Heaven is kind of nice this time of year lol

@Disney smoking will likely give you lung cancer, it's not a pretty way to die. My great uncle died that way.
@basilfawlty89 I've also seen people who never smoke get lung cancer, yet I've also seen smokers live to be a ripe old age and die naturally

Vaping doesn't need to be expensive. You don't need a Juul or anything. Just get a decent vape device like the GeekVape Aegis Boost and buy the liquid, make sure they're nicotine salt based.

I spend way less money vaping than I did on cigarettes.

@basilfawlty89 have you seen how many starter kits there are and the many many varieties to chose from to vape , and the prices too , cheap you say , how long have you been vaping ? , it helps to know something about the subject
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@FurryFace I've been vaping for two years and my last cigarette was two years ago. Brand wise I recommend GeekVape, VooPoo and Vaporesso. Stay away from Smok.
I've got the GeekVape Aegis Boost Plus and it's a very sturdy device.

All you need then is just a normal phone charger (you get the cable with the device), a new coil every week or so and the liquid.
