To Protect and Serve or shoot, bash and arrest?

Ideally no matter what the situation it should be the Polices job to protect and serve but more and more news clips keep surfacing from all over the US of Police officers extremely rough arresting tactics regardless a persons age, colour or mental health situation. The polices answer to everything is if military style orders don’t work then grab the suspect and force them into submission. It this happens to require breaking bones or tasering the person, then let’s do that.

What happened to communicating and listening to a member of the public?

@Eyeamhere so because I may not have told the truth does that give the police the right to shoot, bash and taser me?
Or does that just require the need for more questions?

And that's why I would never make a good cop. Give me authority and a club and it's going to be a bad night for a lot of people.

@PrincessVelvet Would that include dislocating the arm of a 70 year old woman with dimentia?

Protect and to serve means many things to many different people.

In many cases like with Floyd it is taken to extremes. By using deadly force.

Yet the more violent cases it is justifiable.

Case in point happened just last night where someone was going around and randomly shooting people from their SUV.

As soon as his vehicle was stopped he was shot. Even then they being shot at themselves.

The point here is where deadly force should be used. Not whether they are protecting and servering. And protecting and servering an active deadly criminal.

After watching LivePD I can’t understand why they tell somebody to get on the ground 30 times.

@Keepitsimple Because cops are too stupid to know any better.

Sometimes but they are smarter than those they have to deal with. @justanothername

@Keepitsimple Doesn’t matter, if you can’t communicate you may as well be as dumb as the guy you are arresting.

You notice no police cars say “to serve and protect “?
Actually Supreme Court decisions in two different cases upheld that police neither have to “serve” or “protect” even if the lives of children were at risk. That “serve and protect” moniker was and is a lie since cops are allowed to make judgement calls on whether or not to act. I think it’s a bullshit call by the Supreme Court. @MrBrownstone

@MrBrownstone now it’s just comply or we will shoot you.

@stratosranger I
Totally agree. The US has become a totalitarian state not dissimilar to what Chile used to be under Pinochae.
