Just autism/aspergers is not a good enough reason to act that way. It definitely sounds like something is wrong with him. I have known very sweet autistic people and also autistic people that just happen to be jerks as well. But just the condition itself is not a good enough reason to treat someone like crap.
But yeah I know what it feels like to be single at your age as well.
