I think the good part about it is that it doesn’t have an app and I think that was the beginning of the end of EP but at least the browser in SW is more mobile friendly.
[c=#800055]Are you from EP ? 🤔[/c]
ghostofapu · 26-30, M
@valobasa4ever Yes. Arent you?

It's the same on the surface, but the energy has changed. People have changed. The way of interaction seems different.
There was a time EP was really a fun place to be at.

@SW-User Agreed. I also miss confessions. And the layout was more interesting/fun/condusive to community interaction.

@ghostofapu I feel like the essence of EP was never replicated even though the whole concept was. There was a certain kind of warmth and joy in that place, inspite of all the other issues.
And I get it that it is possibly something not everyone shares. Especially depends on how your EP experience was. But that is what people are missing when they see they miss EP.
Metaphorically, lets say a child had a home with a dysfunctional family but he still had fondness for it and then something happens to his family and he has to go to a foster home. Technically he is getting everything he would with his family, and yet something has fundamentally changed for him.

Whenever a forum bites the dust, a replacement comes along that is typically a carbon copy.

It is hard to know why people would miss the "old" when the new is just alike.

I wasn't on EP much before it shut down but from what I remember, it wasn't any different, just had a different name.

Funny though, when I came across "Experience project" on a google search years ago, I thought, "I bet that place is full of intelligent people with deep stories".

hah hah HAH HAH HAH!

So anyways...
SmellyBot · 61-69, M
@CestManan Yeah, it's like they say this a place of nice people who don't want any drama then you see them picking people out and accusing them of being a pedophile. smh

Then we'll see people getting called out by name which I thought was a violation here, but just like Fb rules don't apply to everyone equally.

I've used this site to help ween myself off Fb and it has worked as I no longer have any desire to be on any so called 'social' site especially when our posts reveal the amount of lurkers going through the posts but not reacting or saying anything like the creepy fucktards they are lol
CestManan · 46-50, F
@SmellyBot I was never much into FB.

I would post something, it would go unnoticed. I got bored with it almost instantly.
SmellyBot · 61-69, M
@CestManan I was only there for the memes and to see what I could get away with. I used fake names with Fb's permission and it really pissed people off because they would tell me they was reporting me, so I reported them as they also was using an obviously fake name and their account would be disabled but mine wasn't. lol

For 15 years I was Jesus McMoses, Joe Friday, and Дуглас Болдуин. Fb disabled my account saying I need to prove my identity so I sent them a copy of my driver license and they opened all three accounts back up for me to use, but after 15 years I've had enough of the extreme censorship and deleted my accounts although I have until Feb 16 to change my mind.

On Fb in groups of under 300 shows who lurks which makes it easier to kick out the undesirables although we couldn't assume because some people wasn't meaning to lurk, but they was in 'jail' and couldn't say anything

As a whole group the people on EP were more friendly. They weren’t as mean and hateful as so many here are.
ghostofapu · 26-30, M
@James1956 Um that is not true at all
@James1956 👌 🍁

SW is very different from EP.

@ghostofapu All users could only see posts from groups they were a part of by default. Plus Questions. So if you only used Questions, yes it's the same but group system is very different. People can set their feed now to see only the content from groups they are in but it only goes a few days back and older content won't load. And of course, most people have their feed set to see everything as default so there's no privacy. I want to write content only for people who are in the same group not for every nosy bastard who can't simply scroll past the content not targeted at him or her but read it instead and then whine about it.
I think there was more tolerance on ep. I was only on it for the last four years.
SmellyBot · 61-69, M
I was thinking of this question a few minutes before you asked it because I wonder the same thing.
Nostalgia I guess would be the answer like idiots at Yahoo say they liked Answers when it was a different color. lol
zorroo · 56-60, M
many people ex. EP didn't join SW or they joined with another user names.
there was chat option ( real time chat ) on EP that is not available on SW yet.
Moonpenny · F
Ep changed two or three years before it was closed down, when it was opened up to Facebook. The dynamic changed completely after that.
People who joined Ep in those latter years won't have a clue what we're on about when we say we miss Ep so much.

{@ghostofapu] yes very true it is the same format but you cannot avoid sentimentality and people miss and pine for things gone
