I am a little more concerned as burglaries have doubled in my area. The thieves are taking advantage of retail stores and the lack of police presence, more so than residential homes.

@BizSuitStacy So, you're just lazy, then, is that it?
daisymay · 51-55, T
@BizSuitStacy
Y'all aren't going to fight
Oh, you're one of those people. I'll be happy to educate you, big guy! You just let me know when you think you're feeling man enough to overcome your laziness or find your bootstraps.

I'll be your huckleberry, Purty Mouth!
@daisymay bwahahaha

Should we really need to.. We shouldn't be fighting each other but this virus. Get real people. Anyone who even thinking about doing something stupid should think again. This virus is killing and hurting enough

Not concerned because if worst came to worst I can protect myself and others.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@ravenwind43 Absolutely. 😅

@Stereoguy I hope some of that pity is for me too? 🤭

People, if you have guns KEEP THEM LOCKED UP in a safe and/or with trigger locks. Especially if there are children in the house. That includes vehicle trunks and glove compartments. There are a huge number of tragic accidents with guns in this country because people leave loaded guns where others can get access to them. LOCK IT UP!
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
@TexChik Children are fascinated by guns. Even if they have been trained I would keep all guns locked up.

I know a guy with young children in the house, who came up with a solution. For his bedside gun he uses a .32 Savage 1907 semi-auto pistol. He chose that pistol because the slide works very hard, too hard for children to be able to pull. He leaves it his night stand with a loaded mag, empty chamber.

@badminton dude I’ve been shouting all my life ... I know about guns , we own a lot of them
TexChik · F
@badminton I used biometric safes at my bedside and around the house. I’m good
Hikingguy · 56-60, M
We’ve always been a gun family. But here where I live? No concern other than the normal break ins to be worried about.
akindheart · 61-69, F
i do own a gun. just learning to shoot it. right now, i am not worried but it is nearby with some hollow point bullets to go in it
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@akindheart Point that away from me. 🤨
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
Not too much. Very few people on the streets, little car traffic here in San Francisco.

If anything comes up I've got my trusty baseball bat and pepper spray. I believe in non-lethal weapons.

@saragoodtimes I guess ... I didn’t know there was such a thing as a four pound bag of ice . It’s hotter here. 95 last week , but it was 31 here this morning
@TexChik 4 and 8 lb bags here. guess I just took it for granted that was the normal size bag
TexChik · F
@saragoodtimes we have 8 , 20 pound bags in the box ( the ice cordoned like you find outside of stores) in the barn . We have an ice maker (soft) that we just had fixed . Doesn’t hurt my teeth !
TexChik · F
I always am ! Now though , at the farm , we have all the alarms on . Gate alarms , cameras , motion detectors ... and we stay armed . Out in the boonies here someone might just think “ nobody will know”.

That is always a concern in my part of the world. It is always part of how I think and live. A person gets used to it.
Lochlee · 51-55, F
@Stereoguy 1505 infected 31 recovered and 7 died. We have a population of about 57 million. Given our resources I am quite impressed by the way our government handled this. We are given daily detailed updates. Do I think it is the calm before the storm?.. probably... but we are giving it our best shot so far. If you are interested, read the BBC report "South Africa's ruthlessly efficient fight against coronavirus". I just think our economy is taking a beating it cannot afford, but like most countries we are between a rock and hard place. How does it look in your country?

@Stereoguy Its sad, I think many countries are in the same position. We too have those mixed reactions, and like most countries, we cannot afford this lockdown economically (and many who earn their money on the streets, vendors, garbage pickers etc are suffering badly). But we were forced to but some time - even if was just to prepare as best we can. In two weeks we also have to head back work and then the double battle begins - staving off this virus AND trying to salvage what is left of our economy. I just hope they find something that will help. We know not how it will end, but we have to go through it.
I'm seeing that as well and I;m wondering WTF???

With Corona affecting and altering our lives as it has peopled untrained in the use of of a forearm, and uneducated as far as caring for their weapon are buying therm and that is wrong.

It seems many have the idea of hunting humans on their mind. Trigger happy newcomers that should not be issued any weapon.

@Stereoguy Yeah. That too. I'm in a rural area so I doubt we have much concern over that but it will spread to rural areas.
